After walking into Noon|Midtown through the convenient parking deck entrance, my dining companion and I stepped up to the counter to place our breakfast order and were greeted by a friendly young man who handed us menus. The first thing I notice is this pattern of friendliness – everyone that works here has a smile on their faces and I immediately get a good feeling about this place. A happy staff means happy customers, right?

I ordered the prosciutto baguette with sweet butter and parmesan ($7.95), and my friend ordered the scrambled egg sandwich with Benton’s bacon, Monterey Jack cheese and scallion pesto ($5.75).  We couldn’t resist getting some grits to accompany our breakfast sandwiches, so I chose stone ground grits ($1.95 for a cup; $2.50 for a bowl) with Benton’s bacon ($1.50), while my friend opted for cheddar cheese as her topping ($1).

Our meal arrived on little individual sheet pans, and the prosciutto and parmesan melded perfectly with the sweet butter to give my sandwich a delicate amount of sweetness suited for breakfast.  I dug into my grits and the chewy, flavorful bits of bacon made this such a hearty side item.  The grits got even better as they sat while I chatted with my friend, who polished off her egg sandwich in no time.  She loved the intense flavor of the scallion pesto and all of her sandwich ingredients stayed put as she bit into it – unlike most breakfast sandwiches where the egg slides out the back and the bacon falls out of the sides.  I appreciate a well-crafted sandwich that isn’t a chore to eat.

What I also really appreciate about Noon are the electrical sockets strategically placed below the booths along the back wall of the restaurant that make this a perfect working environment.  As someone who often works remotely and from different coffee shops, it’s nice when restaurant owners make it easy for their guests to multi-task while grabbing a meal or coffee.

As I get up to leave, I begin eyeing the meatloaf sandwich and soup that the woman at the table next to me is eating….we’ve already managed to linger until lunch time but maybe I’ll stay just a little bit longer!  I’ve also got my eye on the Kobe roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce and crispy onions ($8.50) that is served during lunch and is one of the restaurant’s latest additions.  So many sandwiches, so little time!
